Sweet Jesus on a stick, why is there so much good TV now? The Middleman, which started two weeks ago and thus at least isn't hard to catch up on, is:
1) The kind of show where the male lead uses the word, with no irony whatsoever, "ri-gosh-darn-diculous" 2)The kind of show where the female lead admits to reading The Spirit 3) The kind of show that hella passes the Bechdel Test (although I'm not sure that's as big a deal in most TV shows) 4) Sort of like Chuck, Reaper, and Pushing Daisies combined, which makes it 5) pretty much exactly my kind of crack.
Like Chuck, it's ordinary-person-pushed-into-extraordinary-job-with-hot-partner-and-cool-gadgets; like Reaper, it's wacky-monster-of-the-week; like Pushing Daisies, it's extraordinarily quirky and also likes to hide behind a squeaky-clean exterior until it jumps out at you with a joke about skin being the largest and most sensitive organ of the body. (This show is on ABC Family. While watching, one of those ad-bars on the bottom popped up and declared that the channel was "a new kind of family". Oh, I'll bet.)
The leads are cute and, unlike Chuck, have chemistry that isn't actually forced; also like Reaper, the female lead looks uncannily like Missy Peregrym (minus the epic shoulders, admittedly), and one of the first things she does is stab a genetic monstrosity with a letter opener. How can you not possibly love that? And she paints abstract expressionism! Apparently the show is based on a comic book--actually, the creator of the comic is not only an executive producer of the show but also wrote the first episode, which is just kind of awesome all around. There do not seem to be any easily-locatable promo pictures of the show, so here is a picture from the comic instead; it gives the same general impression, really. Look at that. I mean, look at that. There is a commie bear on a motorcycle in that picture. That is what this show is like.
Thus--in conclusion--gosh darn it all to heck, at least it's in the summer so I don't have to worry about it stacking up with ten million other shows. (I am a little frightened of what will happen in the fall, when the schedule aligns and I'm watching eight shows at once.) Also it's probably going to get canceled in three weeks, but hey, that's what I said about Pushing Daisies, right? Who knows--it's been a good year for new shows; maybe the trend will continue.
(...seriously, why aren't there any promo pics? It makes me sad to say all this stuff without a proper visual reference.)

TERRIBLE US LIFE ON MARS PILOT IS TERRIBLE.
...unfortunately, it's not terrible enough to get immediately canceled, unless the US television-viewing public displays a sudden and astonishing burst of scruples. I wouldn't say it's good--oh, lord would I not say that--but it's not quite OH DAVID E KELLEY NO material, and people who haven't seen the original would probably think it was okay. Admittedly, that would be because the okay bits were directly copied from the original. And because they wouldn't have been spoiled by the glory of John Simm and Phillip Glenister. There is at least one bit of good news--the new Annie ain't half bad, even if she is conventionally attractive, and she appears to be inexplicably redheaded rather than inexplicably blond, which I consider to be acceptable for some reason. Aside from that? It's meh. I had only a couple of genuine "wait, what?" moments; the rest of it was just a general field of annoyance.
There is a moment in here that, I think, perfectly encapsulates why this pilot irritates me. In the original, when Sam first hears the TV talking to him, he's still dressed--he's unbuttoned his shirt, but there's an undershirt underneath that. In this, he's completely shirtless. To show off his manly, manly muscles. And that, in a nutshell, is why I didn't like it.

Having fiiiinally seen the last two episodes of Reaper, I have a few things to say:
1) Awesome. 2) No, seriously, awesome. 3) Steve and Tony? Especially awesome. Tearing-up awesome. 4) Ahem. Okay. TV, I would like to have a talk with you. I could deal with Heroes. I could deal with Supernatural. Retroactively, I can say that I dealt with Dexter. Pushing Daisies was kind of a surprise, but hey, it wasn't like it was a ship or anything, and besides, I'm sure it will all be explained next season. But now? This is too many. Five shows is too many for this. So what I'm really saying is, STOP IT WITH THE INCEST I GET THE FREAKING POINT ALREADY OH MY GOD. 5) *deep breath* 6) No, seriously. Beyond the obvious, even. Beyond my corrupt little mind. Remember Cady? I think her name was Cady, anyway. Remember how she was the Devil's daughter? Now remember who was dating her? Yeah. Yeah, that ain't just the warped minds of the internet. That shit is canon, probably because they just forgot about it, but hey. 7) FIVE SHOWS NOW. SERIOUSLY.

Rewatched the Being Human pilot, because an epidemic of good fic for it was going around my flist, and also because I could. My findings: yes, George, Mitchell, and Annie are still the most adorable things to ever grace the face of the Earth, even if boring vampire drama still leaks in around the edges. On the not-so-cute side of things, though, Annie's description of the afterlife as "the long hall with the men at the end with sticks and robes" is deeply, deeply intriguing--it seems to me a very Ursula Vernon image (Google her, she's awesome), and I'd quite like to see them go into that a bit more. Which they totally could, because there will be more episodes omg. *dances the dance of the picked-up-for-whole-season*

In other news, a conversation with vanitashaze inspired me to create this. Wee bit illegible, I know, but I had fun. In other other news, I've acquired a taste for Five/Ainley!Master without having seen any of their episodes; I think it's pretty well-established at this point that I'm a special person.

Oh god, they've released the trailer for the US version of Life on Mars.
...he's too muscular.
And he doesn't wear the hair nearly as well.
And Colm Meany, I'm sorry, you're trying very hard, but you're no Phillip Glenister.
And the voiceover and the background music just make me wince.
....and is Annie blond?
*sighs and goes back to Doctor Who, which has already gotten over its thankfully brief bit of Americanization and will never suffer from it again*

I have been incommunicado for the last few days! And yet, I spend most evenings endlessly and desperately refreshing my flist to see what the rest of y'alls are saying. Part of that may be due to a funky school schedule which, for this week only, gives me more time in the evenings and mornings, which leaves me baffled as to what to do with that free time; part of that may be avoiding using my free time to do homework or, uh, write. Getting back into writing is frightening. I keep getting the jitters about opening up Word and scrolling down to the bottom and actually adding words, omg. But it seems to be going well enough. And, like my dad says, it is good to have written. I can look at that wordcount and be proud (if somewhat baffled). So, now that I'm saying stuff again, what shall I talk about? Clearly the answer is WONDERFALLS.
One of the things I am using the free time in the evenings to do is to finally, finally get back to watching Wonderfalls with my family; usually, there's this...whole complicated TV schedule which has lately meant we don't have time to watch Wonderfalls, basically, but this week it means we can, so that's what we've been doing! And thus I have now seen up to, hmm, 'Lying Pig'. On one hand, we are clearly not supposed to like Eric's wife, and I don't, partly because she's annoying and partly because that whole arc is annoying. On the other hand, she's a wife named Heidi and she's played by Jewel Staite. CURSE YOU, FULLER. MY ONLY WEAKNESSES. So, my opinion of that episode and the couple before that: overly-dramatized romantic arcs are boring, even if everyone involved in them is crazy-cute (sometimes literally), but Lee Pace still makes me all wibbly and so maybe I do not mind the thing with Mahandra so much. Leeeeee Paaaaaace. When is Pushing Daisies coming back? Not soon enough. And why are there only three episodes of Wonderfalls left? And is my vague, sneaky prediction as to what might start talking in the final episode going to come true, or did they sadly never get around to that? These are the eternal questions of the universe.
I may have finally given up and added the movie where Lee Pace plays a transgendered nightclub performer to the Netflix list. Goddammit, maybe I won't have the time when it gets here, but I will make time.

I realize most of you are probably sick of my endlessly talking about Due South--and yes, I realize I haven't talked about Heroes, since, oh, January, what with my sudden obsessions with, respectively, Torchwood, Psych, and Life on Mars, so maybe some of you have been skipping past my posts lately, which is fine, 'cause I do that too; I just want to make some vague acknowledgment that I am aware of how increasingly off-topic I've become. I have no doubt that the Heroes mojo will return in full force once the show does, it's just that there's so much other shiny stuff I've never seen before, and, well, shiny.
I could get all flaily plot-wise with Life on Mars, which is nice, because, y'know, it's cohesively good, and Heroes...somewhat less so. Psych was just fun, and Heroes never really was, except for the odd Hiro moment. (I miss those moments.) Torchwood had both fun and some surprising awesome character stuff, even if overall I think Heroes is the stronger show. Due South is fun, pretty (CKR and Paul Gross for the win, of course, but I'm kind of grooving on Ramona Milano too), and has moments that just make you stare and go "okay, I am 95% positive they would have made out in the next scene if they hadn't gotten distracted", and also it has scarily huge amounts of really great fanfiction all over the internets, which does not help at all. There's nothing quite like a ten-year-old fandom for accumulating stories. (Except, of course, for a fandom that's been around even longer than that; I'm kind of afraid of classic Trek fandom in that regard. I mean, I bet they could fill libraries.) Whereas I have read pretty much 80% of all the Heroes fanfiction I would be interested in. Also, Due South stories are happy and largely angst-free (although I have read a couple short, excellent and rather similar stories that made me want to 1. cry my eyes out and 2. write my own story along those lines, horrible person that I am), without all the problems that come from incest and all that. Why can't Heroes be happy? Oh, right. Drama. We've discussed that.
So, uh, this is my obligatory late-night rambling post; join me next time, when I dive fully over the cliff and post a comprehensive character analysis of Ray Kowalski. What, you think I'm kidding? I'm not kidding. Jesus Christ on a pogo stick. *hangs head*

It gets easier.
Well--sort of. There's a reason I find it hard to read Buffy or Angel stories; even if they're happy, they make me think about things, and maybe it's been months since I saw their respective finales but I still don't want to think about those things. I downloaded an Angel vid, an absolutely brilliant one that summed up the whole series, that made me cry my eyes out, and I kept it on my hard drive but I don't think I'll be watching it again any time soon. And I can't really think of Firefly the same way after I saw Serenity. Joss, honey, you're brilliant, but you frequently make me want to curl up in a corner. Thankfully, you're probably one of a kind. I sure as hell hope so.
I've told you all my story about the two hours between hearing about the second season finale of Heroes and seeing the second season finale of Heroes, and it's actually quite a good story, but unfortunately it does not really apply in this case, because, y'know, the reason it's a good story is because I explained some very good reasons as to why the Heroes writing staff could not possibly be that stupid. Which is great and all if you're talking about Heroes, but I'm not actually talking about Heroes, and, unfortunately, the show that induced me to talk about this...well, it doesn't have that great a track record of "not being stupid". Alas.
It is a well-documented fact that it is a peril to watch a currently-running TV show if the show is prone to large amounts of drama. Again, see Heroes. And Lost, and Battlestar Galactica, and anything by HBO or Joss Whedon. (He's got a new show in development, did you hear? I'm already afraid.) At least with shows that have already ended, well, you know, or you have some idea; you don't live quite on the same edge of your seat. Although I did mention the Buffy and Angel thing. Okay, so it's kind of crap whether or not the show is still running; my point is, you love drama, you have to be prepared to get burned, because drama does not love you. Drama likes to watch you suffer. Sometimes, of course, it makes you ecstatically happy, and sometimes it's so jaw-droppingly brilliant that you know you could never stop watching, but one must always be aware that loving a dramatic TV show is akin to an abusive relationship. And you can't distance yourself from it to numb the pain, either; if you do, you've missed the entire point of a drama. Drama should affect you. If it doesn't, why watch? And if it does, why can't you stop?
Then, of course, there is the quiet joy of watching a show you know will not break your heart; casting shake-ups aside, nobody's ever going to die on House, and while Pushing Daisies may be entirely about death, it's never actually going to kill anyone we care about. In Chuck, the only actual hey-this-character-is-intriguing death, well, he's feeling better, he thinks he'll go for a walk...the Winchester brothers are proven to be immune from permanently kicking it, soul-selling aside (and what, you think that's actually going to do the trick?). I'm not even going to mention the Stargate universe. How high's the count on Daniel again? Seven? Eight? One of the best things about watching Due South is that, well, it's been over for over a decade, I already know how it ends, and I already know it's basically the happiest, slashiest ending ever. Although Due South actually does have its moments of drama and did kill a character and kick two other characters out, but I didn't really care about the dead guy, both of the absentees got appropriate send-offs, and one of the absentees actually came back, so basically I'm just rambling at this point.
And since I'm rambling, I'd like to point out that Doctor Who is starting up again this week, and that is possibly the show most notorious for ripping your heart out without actually killing anyone, which is surprising given the sheer amount of NPC deaths it manages to rack up every episode. Stupid Whoniverse. At least the Sarah Jane Adventures isn't ever going to go dramatic, right? Right? Oh god please tell me I'm right, I don't think I could handle it if I'm not. They're kids, for Christ's sake! Keep your melodramatic claws off them, Russell T Davies!
Anyway, to get back to the very original point of this post: it gets easier. Well--sort of. Rambling helps, actually. Why else did you think I was doing this? To entertain you lot? Yeah, right. I wanted to do that, I'd get back to writing lots of Heroes fic again. Or writing at all again. No, it's my journal, its contents are subject to my whims. So I don't actually need to have a point to all this, because it's late and I'm not sure I've entirely processed some stuff yet and I'd like to get back to my Canadian happy place. So goodnight, y'all, and if you still have no idea what I'm talking about, consider yourself lucky, you bastard. futuresoon out.

Speaking in a purely theoretical manner, mind you, were there to be some sort of ridiculously large picture featuring all the major slash pairings I can think of, 1) would femslash be included, because really I can only think of Buffy/Faith and they'd be very lonely if they were the only ones, and 2) would Captain Jack Harkness have to be there with Ianto, or could he just be there on his own? I mean, I wouldn't really say Jack/Ianto is one of the largest pairings out there, but it would be unforgivable to not include Jack.
(This is about 80% theoretical, mind. I'm not nearly comfortable enough with my art abilities to do it yet, and also I've kind of never drawn, oh, almost all of them. Still, I've actually got quite a good list so far: Kirk/Spock, Starsky/Hutch (let it never be said that I cannot go old-school), Jim/Blair, Fraser/RayK, Mulder/Krycek, Angel/Spike, Jack/Daniel, John/Rodney, Doctor/Master, Clark/Lex, Sam/Gene, Sam/Dean, Nathan/Peter, House/Wilson, and wasn't there some Highlander pairing or another? I would prefer not to leave things out just because I'm utterly unfamiliar with them. It must be comprehensive. So, if there's anything I've missed, feel free to chime in.)
Oh, and: no, I haven't forgotten about the latest episodes of Torchwood; I've been a bit incredibly busy, so I haven't bothered to write anything up about them, but I shall make a post combining all of them probably sometime in the following week. Let me just say that I loved 'A Day in the Death', was pleasantly surprised by 'Something Borrowed', thought 'Out of the Rain' had so much more potential than what they gave it, don't actually have very much to say about 'Adrift' at all, and am torn between quite liking some parts of 'Fragments' and narrowing my eyes at others. Don't you fucking do that to UNIT, Chris Chibnall. I barely know them and I'm still defensive of them.
Right. Off to go read more porn about a character I haven't met yet. Ta!

It's hailing, but I can see the sun through the clouds on the other side of the lake; it was snowing yesterday, and we thought we might have to cancel the closing night of the musical, but we didn't. We did marvelously, and the girl who, most unhappily, had been horribly sick and was not able to sing or even talk the night before, revealed just how much of a rockstar she really is and did all of her lines plus her solo song anyway. I think she is one of my heroes. A tiny, spastic, dedicated, amazing just-got-elected-next-year's-ASB-president hero. (She couldn't talk that day, either. I wasn't there for the speeches--senior class meeting, alas, since we can't vote--but I hear she did hers through a combination of miming and interpretative dance. With a translator, admittedly.) It's warm inside and it's cold outside; it's spring break, and I've got so many things to do, but I actually have enough time to do them.
Man, it's really hailing. Which is as much of a segue as I can manage into: so, I finished the second season of Due South.
They knew they were ending, right? (Even though it turned out they weren't.) Because that's pretty much the best way you can go; you have an episode which calls back a previous plotline and deals with the relationship between the primary characters, and then you have one last episode just for unabashed silliness and meta and my god did they really just say that okay maybe now I get why people slashed them. Changing the clips behind the end credits was a nice touch, too. And that's all she wrote.
Except, you know, for how she (and by she, I mean he, because most of the writers were male) totally wrote two more seasons.
Those two more seasons were the reason I started watching the show; I was bored, and I was browsing through the archives of a reccer whose opinions I very much trust, and I thought, huh, a Mountie, that could be interesting. And it was very interesting! I read more and I even ended up downloading a couple vids, and I still hadn't seen any part of the show. Somewhere along the line, I figured out that the scrawny blond guy called Ray wasn't the only guy called Ray, and I thought it was odd that they would have two characters in the same show with the same name, but I shrugged and downloaded the pilot anyway, because I was getting really interested by the whole show. I mean, slashy slapstick action/adventure comedy with jokes about Canada and a deaf wolf? It would be impossible not to like it. So I watched the pilot, and, yeah, it seemed slow at first, but after the main character said his first line, I fell hook, line, and sinker. This show. Sometimes it's just so funny and lovely it feels like you're going home every time you watch it. But I digress. So I watched the pilot, and I kept waiting for the scrawny blond guy to show up, and I didn't really mind the big-nosed Italian guy, but I got to the end of the pilot and there was still only one Ray, so I pursed my mouth and headed to the Internets and found out that, oh hey, scrawny blond guy doesn't show up until the third season; there are two Rays because I guess the writers really liked the name and didn't want to have to change it when they switched out the characters. Hrmph. Still, like I said, I didn't mind the original Ray, so I contented myself with that and bought the first season. I stopped reading the fics, and I didn't watch the vids any more, because I figured I could wait until I'd actually seen the guy.
I watch the first season and I love it. Some time passes. I get the second season, I watch the first six episodes, and it's a long story, but after that, a lot more time passes and I never get back to it.
Cut to about a week ago, when I got all itchy for Master & Commander and devoured as much of the gloriously long and excellent fics I could find on a particular author's site, and when the itch faded, I realized I was still hankering for some really good, long stories, and for some reason, the first thing that came to mind was, Hey, there were a bunch of Due South stories on that other lady's site I never got around to. So I head over there, and I get back to reading, and I realize I have to finish the show, because I still haven't seen that guy and at this point I probably should. And today I finished the second season, and the original Ray's term is over, and I've got the third and fourth seasons coming through Amazon by the end of next week or so, and it's strange. I mean, I like the old Ray. I'm really, really looking forward to the new Ray, because reading all those fics has made me kind of love the guy even though I've never seen him--I've seen the actor in a couple things, notably Tin Man and an episode of Supernatural, and I spazz out every time, because I am an incurable dork--but it's still weird to think about it.
The hail has turned to rain now. Ave! Ray nova; probably not even remotely similis Ray seneca. G'bye, Ray Vecchio, I look forward to seeing you again in the ultimate finale...and hey there, Ray Kowalski, we're gonna finally meet any day now.
You better be as good as I was told you were. *narrows eyes*

Children of Men: The Series? Well, uh. That's certainly something.
I'm torn between wanting it to be good--because it could and deserves to be very, very good--and wanting it to be bad--because I wouldn't have to watch another TV show.

So, you know how a few days ago, I mentioned Paul Bettany would totally make the best Jonathan Strange ever? (He so would.) Anyway, uh, it turns out wee_warrior had read the book too, and...things really just went downhill from there.
Shall we begin with a brief description of the book?
Imagine if Pride and Prejudice met Neil Gaiman. That's...pretty much the best way I can think of to describe it. It is Merrie Olde England during the Napoleonic Wars (it is worth mentioning that England is really not all that Merrie), and also there is magic. Or there was magic. 'Practical' magic has long since faded from England, with all the old magicians having either died without successors or simply wandered off to far away (far, far away) lands. All that remains is 'theoretical' magic--people who call themselves magicians but do not actually practice it; instead, they, er, talk about it. Most of them are very old. Magicians are well-respected, of course, and nobody thinks too much about what it used to be like way back when, probably because 'way back when' means 'long before my great-great-grandparents were born'. But at one time, England did indeed have magic.
This book is about what happens when two men start bringing it back.

So, I pretty much still love my drama group more than most other aspects of my life, possibly because we are so danged awesome, but possibly also because, through an interesting twist of conversation, I can get a guy to say, "Yeah, we're all gonna get laid! Unprotected sex! (raises hand for high-five from Other Guy) Other Guy, gimme some of that!"
And the best thing is, he had no idea what he said until I pointed it out to him.
Also, because I can get into conversation with a girl, remember that she once referred to herself as a "computer girl", remember that she reads fantasy novels, mention these things to her, ask her "So, are you familiar with...fandom?", and get into a long and very happy conversation on the subject. I mean, she mostly hangs around The Pit, and she prefers not to read porn, but she seems quite intelligent and reasonable. And she is just friggin' adorable. Seriously, she actually looks like a tiny Disney princess. Granted, the medieval garb and hairstyle adopted for the play might help with this, but it fits so well with her. She's like a pretty little pixie! And this marks the first time I have ever actually admitted just what the most acknowledged pairing in the Heroes fandom is (she doesn't watch it, but she's amenable towards it), and while she initially got very wide-eyed and giggly, a further description of why it's the most acknowledged made her admit that it did sound intriguing. Mostly she's an FFVII girl, apparently, though she got her start in Harry Potter. Really, what modern fangirl didn't get her start in Harry Potter? So we don't really share any fandoms, and she finds LJ hard to navigate, but still. Ally.
Cannot watch Torchwood until Sunday. Wargle. Apparently Reaper is back, which, on one hand, yay, but on the other hand, am two episodes behind and will only become more so. But then, there are only a few episodes left anyway, so it may not be that big a deal. Also, am attempting to find Blackpool, because, er, one of my fangirl-converts watched all of it through Youtube and demands that I and another girl watch it with her on an actual television. I should feel vaguely embarrassed that one of my disciples has reached farther than I, but really, it's kind of awesome.
(Cannot stop listening to Life on Mars soundtrack. SEND HELP)

I remember that it is March, and then I remember that way back when I posted my first fic it was March, so I look it up, and, oh hey, tomorrow is the one-year anniversary of my second (decent) fic ever (my first was a couple weeks ago). Freeeeaky. But you know what is even better? In those fifty-four weeks since my first fic, there have been seventeen new episodes. That's, uh, less than 33% of the time. I find it very strange to think about how starting in September, there is going to be a new season, with new episodes, and not just eleven, oh no, this time we get twenty-five, and the ratio will go up significantly and it will still be very freaky because, dude, it's been over a year wtf. I would like to point out that this has been a hella awesome year. Hella. For serious, becoming an active part of fandom has really changed my life, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. The world's kind of a messy place, anyway. Fandom's less complicated. (And yes, I know that may be a hilarious thing to say, but shut up, my fandom experience has been overwhelmingly positive and joyful so far. This may be because I tend to stay in the secluded, pairing-specific areas, but I still like it.)
On a semi-related note, relatively soon it will also have been a year since I joined the theoretically elite ranks of the paid account users, so I would like to know if anyone knows that the extra-icon bonus (which I got back at Christmas and will not expire for a while yet) sticks around after reverting to a basic account? Although I don't know if we actually get to revert back to basic any more, what with basic accounts having gone the way of the dodo or something. Ads. Feh.

1) Sam Tyler - guessed by swingerzetta and cosmicavatar 2) Dean Winchester - guessed by 47_trek_47, cosmicavatar, and shizuka_blooms 3) Shawn Spencer - guessed by bats_eye and shizuka_blooms 4) The Almighty and Long-suffering Impala - guessed by cosmicavatar and shizuka_blooms 5) Angela Petrelli - guessed by cosmicavatar and shizuka_blooms 6) Juliet O' Hara - guessed by nobody, but then, I suppose she doesn't actually stand out much if you're not actively thinking of her, and she's new to my list 7) Ianto Jones, also guessed by nobody, possibly because he doesn't go much for being showy and distinctive. 8) Monica Dawson - guessed by harena, cosmicavatar, angiepenguin, and shizuka_blooms 9) Cut-Throat Bitch, also known as Amber Volakis - guessed by cosmicavatar and shizuka_blooms 10) Test Card Girl, also known as WTF CREEPY CLOWN DOLL GIRL - guessed by swingerzetta and cosmicavatar
Yeah, so, maybe a few of mine were a bit obscure. But I was running out of Heroes characters. (Someone suggested 3 might be Bela, which--ahahahaha, would be a so very interesting meeting. Poor Shawn. )

You know that hour? Everyone has that hour. Before you go to work, or before you have to go to bed, or before you need to leave for the airport. You have a full hour, so it's a useful time. You could get a lot of stuff done in an hour. Homework, or prepare a report, or write, or whatever you want. In fact, maybe you should do some of those things, because it's a full hour, and maybe you don't get a lot of full hours. But for some reason, you just. don't. want to. The homework can be done later, the writing feels a little forced, you don't really want to vid, watching TV feels like a waste of time. But it's a full hour. And you think you should be doing something, but you can come up with legitimate excuses for not doing anything. So you write LJ entries and refresh your flist endlessly and try to get that song out of your head and wonder when it got to be so hard to get two characters to kiss, dammit. (Alternately: why the hell aren't there any clips of Sam Tyler drinking? THERE ARE NONE. I CHECKED. HE SPENDS HALF HIS TIME IN THE PUB, BUT HE NEVER DRINKS ANYTHING. I know he drinks wine in his apartment a couple times, but the pub is a much, much better fit.)
blahhhhhh thirty-six minutes left until bed. time to watch more vids. oh yes. that is clearly the answer.

What time is it? Time for another one of my no-regular-schedule-at-all TV Shows in Fifteen Minutes picspams! Yes, I've totally done them before. Be quiet. This edition: Psych.
On a related note, I first knew Timothy Omundson, the actor who plays Lassiter, because of his brief role on Deadwood; his character was, er, well, he had a mustache. That's probably the best and most interesting thing I could say about him, other than that he got thrown off a cliff, poor boy. What is interesting (and amusing), though, is that the actor who played the cliff-thrower-offer was actually in an episode of Psych, too, and while he didn't have much direct interaction with Lassiter, I kept expecting them to look at each other funny. I take my amusement where I can.
