Boy, it's been at least a few weeks a while since my last icon post, hasn't it? Clearly that must be rectified. This edition: DOCTOR WHO.
 
I actually had a bunch of Doctor Who pics on my hard drive already (for collage purposes), so, because I, er, have sort of been getting back to watching the classic episodes (yes, selenak, that includes 'The Aztecs', and you are right, it is awesome), I felt the need to make a couple oldies. Yay, Four! Yay, Sarah Jane!
Don't we all need a Martha icon? I needed a Martha icon, anyway.
I think this one wins the "Most Befuddling If You're Not Familiar With The Context" award.
I FINALLY HAVE A DONNA ICON. Or a Donna/Doctor icon, anyway. (In the non-shippy sense, of course.) You would not believe how long it took me to find a decent cap for this--I bet there'll be a perfect one next episode. That is how the universe works. In other news, my love for Donna cannot be measured by any mortal means. In case you were wondering.
And finally, the one I used for this post! The TARDIS deserves just as many icons as the rest of them; she is, after all, the Doctor's only true love. (Do you remember that "Does he still stroke bits of the TARDIS?" line from 'School Reunion'? That's one of my favorite lines in the history of ever.)

Because what everyone needs is moar icons
All right, so, there's this webcomic, this really ridiculous webcomic, I think it's called The Kennedy Tales or something, but my point is, it is really ridiculous, and I've had a page of it saved to my hard drive for ages because I couldn't stop laughing at one particular panel, and tonight, I decided I needed to make an icon out of it, because no one can have too many ridiculous icons. Note that this is not actually art from the comic--I tried that, but it all got too complicated, so I just took the text and slapped it on a couple word balloons in roughly the same place they would have been on the actual page.
Don't ask me why I felt the need to make it. I honestly couldn't say.
I've been thinking about making an icon along these lines for a while, and, well, I was maybe kind of browsing through a screencap gallery of Due South, shut up, and this particular shot seemed to fit. Also, I wanted a Kowalski icon anyway.
There's really no point behind this one. It just seemed like the thing to do.
See, this was the icon I actually set out to make when I went to the screencap gallery; I was thinking, hm, I need a Kowalski icon, what's something that really defines him--ooooh, anger! Anger works! I just happened to run across all those other caps, too. I'm sure there's a lesson in this, but I refuse to pay any attention to it.
This being one of those other random caps that I felt the need to make use of for some reason. I suppose it's possible I might actually use it at some point? I hold high hopes.
Don't. Just...don't. At first, I thought I grabbed this cap because I wanted to get some Fraser in there to balance it all out, but now I really and truly have no idea. I can has Mounties?
Side note: if any of you would actually be so inclined (and god knows why, for some of these), all my icons are free for the taking; just give me credit. I live to be amused by people who find my work intriguing.

A long time ago, someone did a meme where she asked people to ask her to describe shows she'd never seen, and I (keep in mind this was way back and I wasn't nearly as obsessed) mentioned Due South, and she said that she thought it was a metaphor for how the US and Canada are totally gay for each other, and just now, possibly because I've been spending the last hour listening to porn (podfics, man, you gotta love'em), my mind has suddenly made the logical leap from that to "doesn't that mean Canada's on top?"
I REALLY DON'T KNOW.

It is perhaps a testament to my very nature that I had to wrestle with myself for several minutes over the issue of whether or not I really wanted an icon of the Master with a Clefairy; it is an even greater testament that apparently I did. (I did manage to stay away from the one of Sam Winchester with a Rattata.) Blame rionaleonhart for making the damn thing. Wasn't my fault at all.
Of course, it's not in me to do anything in small quantities, so I grabbed a couple Life on Mars icons from copperbadge, too:

Yes, that's an actual screencap, and yes, it's not particularly emo for something with which to express unhappiness, and would you turn that down? I think not. Incidentally, I now have more icons of John Simm in his various incarnations than I do of Nathan. Uh. Not really sure how that happened, but I promise I'll get back to our family flyboys sometime soon. Really.
(Also, the Life on Mars fandom apparently uses a rating system based on the various colors of Cortinas. I LOVE THE INTERNET IN GENERAL AND FANDOM IN PARTICULAR.)

Life on Mars, 2x05: okay, I've seen a screencap of the little doll-things before, but now I've finally seen a little bit of them in proper action, and they better be in the next episode, I swear to god. They're just--they are the very epitome of writers having too much fun. Also I think they have inspired me to make the most obscure icon in the history of ever, but I need to see more of them first, so I must get on that. Only three episodes left, waugh. Why do shows have to end? It's not fair. Although I suppose John Simm wouldn't have been able to be the Master if LoM had continued for that much longer, and they wouldn't have been able to keep the mystery going that long, but still. Not fair.

Okay, icon-savvy people out there (I'm looking at you, eryslash), how the hell do you get those perfect color saturations? (See: my current icon.) Is there a special trick beyond the Brightness/Contrast settings? Does it require something beyond Photoshop Elements? Because my icons always look washed-out to me (and it doesn't help that my new laptop's screen is a lot brighter, thus lightening everything), and I would like to be better at this, plz.
(In other news, somehow I ended up with 1000 words of Ben and Dan in the hotel room. SWEET JESUS, HOW DID THAT HAPPEN.)

(I use this icon because I have no other Life on Mars icons--which clearly needs to be remedied--but also because it's at least relatively crazy-looking, which does sort of sum up my mental status at the moment.)
I'm used to going through strange side-effects after mainlining TV shows or movies or books or whatever--thinking in British accents, for example, or repeatedly running through various scenes in my head for days afterwards, or, as of late, writing loads of fanfic for it--but it is a new thing to associate every single song I hear with the show, regardless of whether or not it actually relates in any way; this might be because most of the songs I listen to are fairly loud and energetic, as are the songs used in the show (and in fact, I was surprised and thrilled to hear one of my favorite songs on there--Ballroom Blitz, by The Misfits), or it might be because I'm completely insane. WHICH IS TOTALLY APPROPRIATE, AHAHAHAHAHA. Oh, beautiful, weird, ridiculously British, badass Life on Mars--where have you been all my life?
...on my hard drive, mostly. I really should've gotten around to it sooner.
*waits to get another big empty weekend so she can mainline the second season too*

I set out to make one icon--the one I use here--and end up with THREE OTHERS, WHAT THE HELL.
HE SPEAKS THE TRUTH.
...this is relatively useful, right? Sometimes? Possibly?
Okay, basically I only made this one because I loved the screencap so damn much, but it is at least the sort of thing I would use with relative frequency. (Even though I already have an Intriguing icon. Shut up, there are always subtle variables.) Also, I needed a Sylar icon anyway. Not That I'm Evil, Totally Not Evil lacks the proper hair.
I also updated my Heidi icon--again--making it the icon I've fiddled with the most. (Except for the new Sylar icon, because I redid the contrast and brightness literally four or five times while I was making this post.) And I will probably change it again later. I'm just contrary that way.

And everyone else just has one. But WHAT THE HELL, PEOPLE. Why isn't Nathan at the top? Why isn't my main guy at the top? Third place, man, seriously? So uh apparently I just made five Glitch icons and decided to upload all of them despite not actually having enough slots to do so so I ended up cutting a few of my lesser-used ones and one of the new icons isn't one I would use very often at all so, er, basically, these are my new icons, aren't they nice? And excessive?
Also, why does the O.Z. apparently exist in a world without color? Or maybe it's just the bits Glitch goes to.
Okay, that's one I've actually been meaning to make for a while. Glitch was just a convenient source.
And again, I need at least one moderately emo icon. Don't we all? Besides, it's really really cute.
Well, probably I needed an icon for the pairing, at least. And I suppose I could find a use for it.
I do think of things on occasion. So it's probably useful. The contrast and brightness on this one are funky, because, well, the lighting in that bit is extremely inconvenient. I mean, I know it was cold gray winter outside, but couldn't they have had a few more candles lit or something? Especially considering how the only other guy in there was just dying of hypothermia. *grumbles*
And this is the one that is completely useless, but I uploaded it anyway because I can. (It's not actually connected to the one before it, despite being from the same scene. My icon text very rarely has anything to do with whatever was actually going on during the screencap.) Also, he really looks like Edward Scissorhands in this one. I suppose he does have the hair and skin tone for it. Not really the clothes and general demeanor, though. Or the hands. Actually, I'm not entirely sure how I managed to make this one look black-and-white. Icons are mysterious things. *shrugs*
...in conclusion, uh, go check out sparky77's On Why Having Half a Brain Isn't Actually Half Bad if you are looking for that sort of thing. Because it's, er, the only good Tin Man fic I've been able to find so far. *coughs* (But even if there were more, this one's pretty damn good. And cute.) And if you aren't looking for that sort of thing but are pondering whether or not you should at least acquire the ability to possibly look for that sort of thing, she also linked to a pair of clips on YouTube that pretty much sum up exactly why I am so freaky about this guy. and why you need to watch the show now. (Admittedly, the first one is just silly, but the second one, which is just the second part of the same scene, is awesome.) (And, okay, not all of the rest of the show is as silly and awesome as that bit, but, y'know, some of it is. Mostly parts involving one or both of those two.)
Also, apparently the Sci-Fi Channel is considering making Tin Man an actual series, so, uh, well, yes, writers' strike end now plz. (That's what happened with Battlestar Galactica, right? Miniseries, then actual series? See! There's precedent! AND THAT IS WHY IT WILL HAPPEN. YES.)

Oh my god, y'all. Okay, you know how you hear about Washington being all rainy? That is not actually true! In the eastern part of the state, there is apparently a lot of sun. And we get a good bit of gray, but our summers are usually quite pleasant. Sometimes, in the winter, we even get snow! All in all, the weather is not really remarkable here.
Except now it appears to have gone fucking insane.
I said we had snow earlier, right? We did! It was very nice. And then it started raining and the snow melted, boo hoo, ah well, nice while it lasted. It vaguely occurred to me that the melted snow is, y'know, water, and water makes things all, er, wet, but I didn't really think about it, because it wasn't like the snow was six feet high or anything. So things would be okay. But then it just did not. stop. raining. As I write this, it is pouring buckets, and it has been doing that since last night. Parts of the roads are flooded, and apparently an apartment complex near the school was evacuated--I know this because there was an announcement over the intercom that any kids who lived there could stay at the school, but nobody else could. At the end of the day, students had to get out now now now, because they did not want to be responsible for any kid to be driving home from practice or study club or whatever to get in an accident (apparently if that happens, it is the school's fault). There are rumors that they'll just close the school down tomorrow. Oh, and there's a 60mph windstorm due in tonight. APPARENTLY.
My drama teacher says there will be locusts on Thursday. My mom says rain of frogs. My guess? Both.
In other, happier, news, dodificus sent me a Christmas card and it is awesome. Yes, damn you, we probably will be huddled around a fire on Christmas, if this weather keeps up. Certainly we will not be enjoying your weather. You and your sun. And yes, I love my tags too. They are my children. Also, awwwwww. <3 (My Doctor Who statue icon has stopped scaring me, but I am amused that it still generates reactions in others, incidentally.) And I am loving that mix CD, I'm listening to it for like the fourth time right now. I did have a few of the songs already--dude, it is one of my life's goals to make a Heroes vid to Flagpole Sitta--but it made me ridiculously happy to find that it had the song I've been lusting after for weeks ever since I heard it during aerobics class, even though apparently this means I am an Avril Lavigne fan. (Now, if I could just find that Thanks For the Memories song...) All in all, hardcore hearts, you. You would get Masterly approval if I could use more than one icon per post.

It's snowing, and I need a new default icon. That was pretty much my exact train of thought when I wondered if I should make a new post. It went like:
1) Oh hey, I should mention the snow. And maybe some other things. I can always find things to mention.
2) What kind of icon would I use for snow?
3) I don't have an icon for that. Or things like that.
4) I could use my default icon.
5) I don't like my default icon.
6) What could I make a new default icon out of?
7) Well, for screencapping purposes, I have immediate and easy access to Heroes, the fourth season of SGA, most of Pushing Daisies, ooh, that latest Dexter, since I haven't deleted it yet...
8) I never mention Dexter. Why do I never mention Dexter? I love Dexter. Dexter is awesome.
9) I don't think I really want Dexter as a default icon, though, since I never talk about it.
10) Probably I should make some sort of icon out of Dexter eventually, though.
11) I think my default icon should be a me-thing. Should I draw myself again?
12) I don't really feel like drawing myself again.
13) There are photos of me, aren't there? And didn't I have a vague plan to use one of those pictures from my senior photo shoot?
14) But when I put the CD in my laptop, it didn't work.
15) It works on the main computer.
16) I don't feel like moving.
17) I don't know if there were any pictures that really stand out as iconnable on that CD, anyway.
